The General Meeting of the Evangelical Mission in Solidarity convenes every two years. 51 delegates from all 28 members (23 churches and five mission societies) take part in the General Meeting. Since 2012 all members of Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Europe have equal rights and the right to vote.
The General Meeting is the highest governing body of EMS and decides jointly on fellowship policy and on long-term strategy. Chair of the General Meeting and of the Mission Council is Reverend Marianne Wagner, Pastor for World Mission and Ecumenism in the Protestant Church of the Palatinate. Her deputies are Dr. Habib Badr, Senior Pastor of the National Evangelical Church of Beirut (Lebanon) and Reverend Klaus Rieth, responsible for Mission, Ecumenism and Development Cooperation in the Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Wuerttemberg.
Besides strategic planning, the delegates elect the Finance and Nomination Committees. These multi-national bodies advise the General Meeting in budgetary matters and financial affairs and prepare elections.
