Lived ecumenism needs exchange and encounter
Exchanging staff is an important element in enhancing cohesion within the EMS Fellowship. EMS sends out women and men to work for several years as Ecumenical Co-workers in one of its member churches. They are important bridge-builders between churches and cultures.
Their service is an expression of the mutual support in common witness: “We witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ at all our respective places in an inviting and faithful way. The experience of being strangers to each other in encounters and in exchange across borders helps us to rediscover the Gospel in new ways.”
Exchange in three directions
Ecumenical Co-workers take part in the church’s life and mission. The staff exchange takes place in three directions in the EMS Fellowship: North-South, South-North and South-South.
