Conference Ecumenical and Interreligious Study Programmes
Experiences from Beirut, Hyderabad, Jerusalem and Kyoto
Time: 17.6., 14:00 am - 19.6., 13:30 am
Event location: Hoffmanns Höfe, Frankfurt am Main
This conference is based on the international consultation Interreligious Study Programs as Task of the Church in Multireligious Societies, which the Ecumenical Center (ZOE) of the Protestant Churches in Hesse, EKHN and EKKW, had organized together with the Evangelical Mission in Solidarity (EMS) in 2019. Its aim is to further analyze, compare and evaluate the specific experiences of the students of theology and religious education in non-European countries in order to comprehend the benefits of ecumenical and interreligious learning abroad. The commonality of these programs consists of the underlying presupposition of intercultural learning in foreign cultures and societies. Through such ecumenical, interreligious and intercultural focus, these programs provide significant contributions to church and school in order to meet more effectively the enormous challenges of migration and globalization in Germany. This consultation also offers a forum for direct exchange about the sustainable effects of such learning experiences in professional practice between alumni and church officials for ecumenism and theological education.
Invited to this consultation are all persons interested in this topic, especially students of theology and religious education, pastors, church officials, and university teachers. The conference language will be English. German translation will be offered.
Information on the programme and a sign-up option can be found in the flyer below.
