"Common Roots, Common Paths"Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Wuerttemberg to Host International Partnership Consultation
Stuttgart: For the first time, the Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Wuerttemberg will be hosting an international partnership consultation. Participating will be 25 different churches from all over the world. The venue is Stuttgart, the dates September 22-27. Two representatives each from church partners in South Africa, Argentina, Indonesia, Romania, Lebanon, Jordan, France, Ghana, among others, will meet with representatives of the Wuerttemberg Church to discuss current themes.
Church growth, environmental concerns as well as ecumenical and interreligious topics form the agenda. It is expected that the consultation will yield new insights for the invited churches as well their Wuerttemberg host. In addition, it is hoped that the conversations can lead to a strengthening of south-south relations among the participating churches. Worship services with international participation and featuring sermons by Bishop Dr. Frank Otfried July and Prelate Gabriele Wulz will mark the opening and the closing of the consultation. Further program points include exposure trips to Ulm, Blaubeuren and Schwäbisch Hall. These with the intention of granting the participants a first-hand impression of the daily work of the Wuerttemberg Church.
Keynote speeches will be given by retired Hamburg Bishop Maria Jepsen and Lutheran World Federation Director Dr. Fidon Mwombeki.
