Against a Culture of DeathThe new Schneller Magazine Reports on life in abundance in the Middle East
Radicalisms, nationalisms, extremisms - in many places, a culture of death is spreading. In Paris, Brussels, London, Istanbul, Orlando, Nice, Jerusalem, St. Petersburg, Berlin, Manchester and New York the Western way of life is put into question by murderous attacks. The fate of the refugees drowning every day in the Mediterranean should shake up the international community. The extent to which a culture of death can take root has, in the last years, especially been experienced by the people in the Middle East. Large parts of cities like Mosul, Aleppo, Rakka or Homs have been destroyed; hardly anyone counts the dead, the wounded and those who were forced to escape.
But even where everything has been destroyed, people listen to the verses in the 10th chapter of the Gospel of John. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. We have asked our friends and siblings in the Middle East what "life in abundance" mean to them.
You may read their amazing answers in the new issue of Schneller Magazine. Some deal with the "thief", others focus on the "good shepherd" - but always life is in the middle of all.
