Cameroon: From a German perspective

The new issue of the BMDZ bulletin is out now (German only): Ruth Günther was in Cameroon for ten months. Now she is back and reports about her voluntary service.

Ruth Günther spent ten months in Bafoussam, in the western region of Cameroon. Now, she is back and is studying to become a midwife in Berlin. She has learned a lot from her voluntary service in Africa. She has become more independent, more critical about poverty and wealth, has learned to accept cultural peculiarities and to adapt to changing locations. Within the framework of the Ecumenical Youth Volunteers Programme of the Evangelical Mission in Solidarity (EMS), of which the Basel Mission – German Branch (BMDZ) is a member, she has worked in a day-care centre, a hospital and a school.

In an interview in the current issue of the BMDZ bulletin (German only), the young woman tells us what experiences broadened her horizon.
