Since the beginning of the corona outbreak, the nine Indonesian member churches of EMS have been struggling with the consequences of the pandemic. For many people, especially the poor and most vulnerable, curfews and contact restrictions are a tragedy. For weeks now, children have to stay at home and suffer from isolation. Without the possibility to earn their own living, their parents are in desperate need of help too.
The Protestant Christian Church in Bali (GKBP) – member church of the EMS – also has to cope with the consequences of the corona pandemic. Worship services and projects like the "Fun Learning Centre Program" (FLC) of the Tabur Tuai Bali Foundation are now being held online. The FLC is an educational program for children and teenagers. The GKBP supports networking among the participants so that everyone is provided with the necessary learning materials – even those living in rural areas without internet access.
In an effort to somewhat distract the children, under strict hygiene and sanitary measures the classes came together again for the first time at the end of June and were overjoyed to see their fellow classmates. On this occasion, the families of the children were provided with urgently needed food.
By contributing to the EMS Corona Relief, you also support our Indonesian member churches and thus many important projects for the poor and the most vulnerable in society.
On behalf of the Indonesian member churches we kindly ask for your prayers and donations for the EMS Coronavirus Appeal. We will do our utmost to send your donations to where they are most urgently needed.
