EMS Corona Relief: Indonesia – Responsibility for the most Vulnerable

Living. Solidarity. Worldwide. Together Against Corona.

The children of the Harapan Baru Children's Home in Lambuya receive a relief shipment from the Protestant Church in South East Sulawesi (GEPSULTRA).

By now, the coronavirus has spread to all regions of Indonesia.  In the Indonesian EMS member churches, worship services are now only held via social media or video conferencing. Consequently, the collections from which the churches derive a large part of their income are no longer available. And by now almost all church reserves have been used up.

The children's home "Harapan Baru" in Lambuya, where orphaned and parentless children receive care and schooling, is also affected by this. Over the course of many years, the facility was funded with donations from Germany. Since 2013, the Protestant Church in South-East Sulawesi (GEPSULTRA) has been responsible for the home. In order to maintain the care of the children entrusted to it, GEPSULTRA depends more than ever on the solidarity of the EMS community.

Let us help one another. For many years, EMS member churches have lived in the realisation that our problems can only be solved together. In emergencies such as these, the Fellowship has always proved to be strong and united, as it says in the Book of Ecclesiastes 4:12,

“And though one might prevail against another, two will withstand one. A threefold cord is not quickly broken.” (NRSV)

We kindly ask for your prayers and donations for the EMS Coronavirus Appeal. We will do our utmost to send your donations to where they are most urgently needed.
