We warmly invite you to the next EMS Sharing of Life Concerns on Monday, 5 October 2026, from 1.00pm to 2.15pm (CEST).

Under the title “Faith in Action against Illegal Mining – The Presbyterian Church of Ghana and the Ecumenical Struggle for Environmental Justice”, we will explore the ecological and social consequences of illegal mining in Ghana and the churches’ commitment to environmental justice.

Illegal and environmentally destructive mining, commonly known in Ghana as “Galamsey”, is one of the country’s most pressing ecological and social challenges. Polluted rivers, the destruction of agricultural land, the loss of livelihoods and threats to public health affect numerous people and communities.

In this Sharing session, we welcome Rev. Dr Felix Cornelius Agyei, Director for Administration and Human Resource Management of the Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. He will present the Church’s efforts to protect and restore the environment, including advocacy for environmental justice, educational initiatives, mobilisation of congregations, and collaboration with other churches and civil-society organisations.
