During the annual general assembly of Evangelische Mission Weltweit (EMW), held from 8 to 10 October in Bremen, Church Councillor Anne Heitmann, President of the Evangelical Mission in Solidarity (EMS), was elected as a new member of the EMW Board. The by-election was necessary because several previous board members had stepped down.

Anne Heitmann is a pastor of the Protestant Church in Baden, where she heads the department for “Ecumenism and the Global Church.” She has been serving as EMS President since 2024 and has been actively involved in the EMS Mission Council since 2014. She was also a member of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches (WCC).

EMW Board Chair Dietmar Arends congratulated Heitmann on her election, saying he looked forward to working together in the coming years.

The next regular EMW board election is scheduled for autumn 2027.
