With the EMS Future Fund for Children and Young People
13-year-old Amar Nethra comes from a small village in the Indian state of Kerala. Like most people there, her family's livelihood is fishing. But the little they catch each day is barely enough to survive. And because Amar had to help her parents with their work, there was no time left for school.
Thanks to the EMS Future Fund for Children and Young People, this is now a thing of the past: In the spring of 2022, Amar was welcomed at the girls' home of the Church of South India (CSI) in Chombala and can finally start learning again. "The food here is very good," she says, beaming with joy. "I got a school bag, books and new clothes when I started school. I'm very happy!"
The EMS Future Fund provides specific support for children and young people - sustainably and efficiently. Whether it’s for fair educational opportunities, safe places to go and a roof over their heads, help for families in need or empowerment through participation - your donation opens up real prospects for children and young people and create opportunities!
India is home to nearly 350 million children under the age of 15. Despite some progress in recent decades, many Indian children know only a life of poverty, early childhood labour and emotional neglect. This is particularly true in the slums of the megacities, but also in many rural areas.
The Church of South India (CSI) cares for these poorest of the poor. There are currently 215 girls and 125 boys living in their six children's homes. Some are orphans, others come from poor or broken families. CSI provides a home and a sense of security, schooling, medical care and psychological counselling.
In this important work, we sincerely ask for your help. To this end, we have established the EMS Future Fund 2022. Specifically, the EMS Future Fund supports projects of our member churches in Africa, Asia and the Middle East that provide education and vocational training. This includes the CSI children's homes.
This year, you can give a child like Amar the best Christmas present there is - the chance of a better future. As little as 30 Euros can provide a girl or boy with medical care for a month. 100 Euros will pay for a child's food and accommodation for a month and 400 Euros will pay a teacher's salary for a month.
The Evangelical Mission in Solidarity (EMS) celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022. In accordance with the anniversary motto "Free for the Future", the EMS used its jubilee year to ensure the future for many children around the world in a sustainable way. For this purpose, we have set up the EMS Future Fund.
Do you have any questions about your donation? We are happy to provide you with more information in person - by phone or email.
