Indonesia: EMS Delegation Visiting Member Churches and Partners
Over the coming days, a delegation of the Evangelical Mission in Solidarity (EMS), will visit member churches and partner organizations in Indonesia. Rev. Junita, EMS Vice President from the Toraja Church (GT), General Secretary Rev. Dr. Dieter Heidtmann, Rev. Dr. Djoko Wibowo, Head of the Indonesia Unit, and Rev. Gustina Saruran, EMS Regional Support Officer will travel across Sulawesi and Halmahera.
The delegation will meet with church leaders and representatives of several churches, strengthening relationships and discussing shared opportunities and challenges. The visit will also include project sites and institutions supported by the EMS fellowship. The journey began with a visit to the Protestant Indonesian Church in Donggala (GPID), where the delegation was welcomed by Church President Alexander Rondonuwu at the church headquarters.
Another focus of the journey will be theological and higher education. The delegation is scheduled to meet leaders of the Indonesian Christian University Tomohon (UKIT) and the Eastern Indonesia School of Philosophy and Theology (STFT INTIM) in Makassar. Worship services and numerous encounters with congregations, students, and church workers will provide further opportunities for exchange and mutual learning.
“EMS is a fellowship built on relationships, mutual support, and learning from one another,” said EMS General Secretary Heidtmann. “Visits like these remind us that, despite our different contexts, we share a common calling. They help us deepen our understanding of one another and strengthen the bonds that connect our global communion.”
The visit will conclude with the Indonesia Forum, the annual gathering of the ten EMS member churches in Indonesia for consultation, fellowship, and strategic reflection. This year's forum will take place from 1 to 4 October in Tobelo and will be hosted by the Evangelical Christian Church in Halmahera (GMIH).
