Plea for Diversity

Combating the Extinction of the Cultural Heritage in the Middle East

One look at the garden is enough: the Creator likes diversity. And if you take a closer look at the people around you, you will have to admit that each and every one is unique. Worldwide, however, we are experiencing the extinction of cultural heritage. The Middle East is a particularly sad example of this, as it is considered the cradle of the three great religions and numerous smaller ones. Religious and cultural minorities are coming under increasing pressure. The current Schneller magazine therefore explores the question of minorities and diversity.

Among others, the Lebanese doctor and politician Fuad Abou Nader explains why he sees Christians in Lebanon as the stabilising factor par excellence in the crisis-ridden country. John Munayer from Jerusalem explains why Arab Christians do not like to be called a minority. Then the French journalist Marie-Armelle Beaulieu, who has been living in Jerusalem for 20 years, gives an ode to religious diversity in the Holy City. And finally, an exciting, highly topical book by the liberation theologians of Sabeel on the subject of anti-Semitism in Palestine is presented.

The fact that diversity is also lived at the Schneller schools is almost a matter of course. You can also find out what this looks like in everyday life in this issue.
