Prayer for Peace in the Middle East
The EMS fellowship joins its member churches, the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East, and the National Evangelical Church of Beirut, calling for “urgent and unceasing prayer” for peace.
In a pastoral letter, the Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, Hosam Naoum, warns that massive U.S.–Israeli strikes on Iran that were started in the morning hours of 28 February have plunged the Middle East into the danger of a full regional war. Iranian reprisals across the region have further intensified this threat.
He describes the severe impact on the Anglican dioceses spanning Iran, the Gulf, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria, where civilians are facing fear, destruction, and escalating violence. The Archbishop calls on the global Church to pray urgently for peace, support the vulnerable, and act as “bridge builders” for reconciliation despite the deepening conflict.
