Attacks on Humanitarian Institutions in Gaza Must Stop
Evangelical Mission in Solidarity (EMS) condemns the attack on a Christian hospital in the Gaza Strip

On the night of Palm Sunday, 13 April, the Anglican Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza was hit by two missiles – just twenty minutes after the Israeli army ordered all patients and staff to evacuate. Significant parts of the hospital, which was founded in 1882, were destroyed in the air strikes; the historic St. Philip's Church on the premises, which had been accommodating numerous patients, was also damaged.
The Ahli Arab Hospital is an institution of the Episcopal Church of Jerusalem. The Episcopal Church is a member church of the Evangelical Mission in Solidarity (EMS). Serving the weakest members of society and working for peace and reconciliation are an essential part of the common mission of the international EMS fellowship. Since the beginning of the war, EMS has repeatedly provided donations to care for the sick and wounded at Ahli Arab Hospital, including countless children.
Together with the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, the Evangelical Mission in Solidarity strongly condemns the attack on the hospital. Archbishop Hosam Naoum writes in his statement: “We call upon all governments and people of goodwill to intervene to stop all kinds of attacks on medical and humanitarian institutions. We pray and call for the end of this horrific war and the suffering of so many.”
