Between the Worlds. Home and Foreign.
Latest issue of "EMS Insights" published

The current issue of EMS Insights is now available free of charge. It is dedicated to the main topic: "Between worlds. Home and foreign".
The global situation is characterised by growing uncertainty and crises. Where do we find our home in the midst of the geopolitical upheavals of our time? What gives us a sense of security? In the current issue of EMS Insights, people from the EMS community talk about what home, but also being a foreigner, means to them personally.
“The feeling of suddenly being homeless cannot be compared to anything else”, writes Vethakani Vedhanayagam in her article “Jesus on the park bench”. The Indian theologian is a deputy theological counsellor at the EMS. After the untimely death of her father, she herself was once temporarily homeless, which sensitised her to issues of social justice.
Stephen Lakkis has been a pastor in Pforzheim, Germany, since September 2022. Previously, the Lebanese-born worked for many years as a professor of theology at various institutions. He argues that ethical responsibility should not end at national borders. “Christians are called to overcome borders,” says Lakkis in the “Insights”-interview.
More and more countries are cutting their budgets for development cooperation. For example, the current US administration has decided to completely dissolve the aid organisation USAID. This has catastrophic consequences for many people, especially in Africa. In the new EMS Insights, you can find out how the EMS community is working to provide medical care for people suffering from AIDS and in need, even in difficult times.
The new issue of “EMS Insights” is available to download as an e-book from the EMS website. Printed copies of the German edition “EMS Einblick” can also be ordered by telephone on 0711 636 78 60 or by e-mail to info@. ems-online.org
