RECEIVING HOPE. GIVING HOPE.
Explore the new EMS Insights
The latest issue of EMS Insights has been published. The 20-page magazine focuses on the theme “Receiving hope. Giving hope.” It can now be downloaded from the website of Evangelical Mission in Solidarity (EMS).
Christian hope is not a vague utopia; it grows out of trust in Jesus Christ. It encourages active engagement in shaping the world and making God’s love visible. In the new issue of EMS Insights, we present people who express this hope in different ways.
Small steps, great impact
Anna Riana Arief, 42, lost her hearing in an accident as a child. She found support at the support center of the Toraja Church in Rantepao (Indonesia). Today, she teaches hearing-impaired children and youth. “I want to pass on what I myself received,” she says. Read how small steps can lead to great achievements in the new EMS Insights.
Four voices on interreligious learning
With the six-month Program for Interreligious Studies at the Henry Martyn Institute (HMI) in Hyderabad (India), EMS has created an opportunity for new perspectives and turning dialogue into lived practice. Four participants from Indonesia, Ghana, and South Africa share how the program has profoundly shaped their understanding of religion, identity, and coexistence.
100th birthday of Jürgen Moltmann
When Jürgen Moltmann published his Theology of Hope in 1964, he did not anticipate the global impact the book would have. It influenced, among others, the U.S. civil rights movement, liberation theology in Latin America, and Kairos theology in South Africa. On 8 April 2026, Moltmann would have turned 100 years old. EMS General Secretary Dr. Dieter Heidtmann reflects on the legacy of the influential Tübingen theologian.
EMS Insights is available as an e-book for download on our website.
