Syria Between Insecurity and Hope
Christians from Syria write in the current Schneller magazine about how they experience the developments.

Syria is back in the focus of global public attention. After the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad on December 8, the cards are being completely reshuffled. Many news reports we receive from Syria are confusing and at times completely contradictory. The most controversial issue is to what extent democratic forces can cooperate with the current, Islamically oriented Syrian government and what role smaller social groups such as Christians can and are allowed to play in the new Syria.
The Schneller Magazine asked Christian partners in various regions of Syria and in the diaspora: How are you? How do you experience the current developments? What scope remains for you (still)?
The picture that emerges from the contributions is remarkably complex: Noticeable fear of violence, oppression, and the reduction of Christian communities to a classic minority role exists alongside astonishing new freedoms and hope for full civic participation. In all of this, it is clear: The last word on the future of Syria has not yet been spoken. Many options are still open. May it turn out well!
And concerning the two Schneller schools in Lebanon and Jordane, many things we are currently experiencing at schools are really good.
