Dealing with trauma

“Dealing with trauma” is the main topic of the new Schneller magazine, in which authors from Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Syria and Germany report. Anyone who is familiar with the recent history of the Middle East and can place it in the wider context of world history will know how many wars and crises have shaped the lives of people in the region. Another war is currently raging that has already cost tens of thousands of lives, with no end in sight. 

The brutal violence, the omnipresent danger to life and limb, the fear for relatives kidnapped, buried or lost while fleeing, the unanswered question of the immediate and more distant future for each individual, but also for entire peoples and nations, all this leaves its mark and will shape generations, just as other wars and crises have already done. 

But it always had to go on somehow and will have to continue after this war. That is why the question of how people, how entire societies deal with their traumas and how they want to get out of a disastrous cycle is so important. Schneller Magazine tries to provide some insights. 

The fact that the Schneller schools in Lebanon and Jordan are trying every day, despite all the adversity, to provide a safe and loving environment for the children and young people entrusted to them is one of the most comforting news at this time.
