Together with the church presidents of the 10 Indonesian EMS member churches, the International Mission Council of the EMS concluded its meeting by discussing the future development of EMS.

"EMS is not just an organisation. It is a movement of hope,” concluded the thirty participants in the meeting. “Rooted in a shared spiritual foundation, committed to the marginalised, actively engaging society's wounds, and striving to become one body across continents, EMS walks forward in faith."

What mission means today is lived out in very different ways in the global EMS Fellowship: “For me, mission is like coffee without sugar,” reports Rev. Gustina Saruran from the Toraja Church, "Mission wakes you up, but it's not just about the sweet side of life. Like coffee, mission makes you feel at home.”

The South African church president Lizwi Mtumtum (MCSA) describes his association: “For me, mission is like a piano. It combines an incredible variety of tones to create harmony. And it plays songs of liberation.”

The bishop of the hosting Christian Protestant Church in Bali (GKPB), I Bagus Herman Suryadi, noted in his closing speech: "In the last few days we have learned a lot about global solidarity in and through EMS. EMS exists to make a real difference in the world: One Fellowship. Many Voices. Shared Mission."
